The steel wire rope is the critical lifeline of any suspended access system. RIGID offers a comprehensive range of high-performance steel wire ropes specifically engineered and certified for use with our LTD-P Series traction hoists (500kg to 2000kg capacities). Manufactured to the highest international standards (EN 1808:2015 and GB/T 19155-2017), our wire ropes deliver exceptional breaking strength, superior fatigue resistance, and reliable performance in demanding working-at-height applications, including suspended platforms, elevator installation, wind turbine service, and industrial maintenance.
Key Features & Advantages
Optimized for Traction Hoists: Unlike standard commercial wire ropes, RIGID wire ropes are specifically constructed (e.g., 4×31SW+FC, 5×K19S+SFC 、5×26WS+FC) to match the precise gripping requirements of the α-type reeving system in our LTD-P hoists. This ensures smooth traction, minimizes slippage, and significantly extends the lifespan of both the rope and the hoist's internal driving components.
High Breaking Strength: Featuring a high tensile strength of 1960 MPa to 2160 MPa, our wire ropes provide a robust safety margin. For instance, the 14mm rope used with the LTD200-P hoist boasts a minimum breaking force of 156.8 kN, easily handling heavy-duty 2000kg loads.
Superior Corrosion Resistance: All RIGID wire ropes are heavily galvanized to withstand harsh outdoor environments, extreme weather conditions, and corrosive industrial atmospheres, ensuring long-lasting reliability.
Preformed and Compacted Structure: The preformed construction prevents the rope from unraveling when cut, while the compacted design (available on select models) offers a smoother surface, reducing wear on the hoist's sheaves and guide rollers.
RIGID supplies wire ropes in various diameters to perfectly match the specific load capacities of our hoist models. All ropes are available in custom lengths or bulk reels to suit your project requirements.

To ensure safe and rapid installation on site, RIGID offers finished wire rope assemblies with various end terminations, manufactured and tested to strict quality control standards.
Thimble and Heavy-Duty Hook: Standard termination for secure attachment to suspension points. Equipped with a safety latch.
Welded / Bulleted Tip: The opposite end of the rope is smoothly welded and tapered to allow easy and snag-free insertion into the hoist's traction mechanism.
Custom Assemblies: Available upon request for specialized applications, including insulated thimbles for welding environments.
For optimal safety and performance, RIGID recommends the following:
Run-in Period: New wire ropes must be run-in with a load of at least 50% of the rated capacity for a minimum of 20 cycles before full-load operation.
Daily Inspection: Inspect the wire rope daily for signs of wear, broken wires, kinks, bird-caging, or corrosion.
Replacement Criteria: The wire rope must be replaced immediately if the diameter reduction exceeds 10% of the nominal diameter, or if other rejection criteria specified in the user manual are met.
Always use genuine RIGID steel wire ropes with RIGID traction hoists to maintain warranty validity and ensure maximum safety.
